Prenatal Yoga is open to everyone, both LWC and non-LWC clients. Please feel free to spread the word!

Yoga is an ideal activity for pregnancy. Its focus on breath, meditation, and positions specifically designed to accommodate the growth and expansion of the pregnant body help prepare you for the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of labor, birth, and beyond. Prenatal yoga is gentle and safe and will assist in increasing strength, stability, and flexibility, along with deepening connection between your body, mind, and baby. Prenatal yoga has even been shown to help lower blood pressure, risk of preterm birth, and pregnancy induced hypertension, as well as decrease levels of depression and improve birth satisfaction. Join us each month as Jenna Brown guides you through a series of poses that you can then practice at home on your own.

“Having delivered twice at The Birth Center at LWC, I couldn’t be happier with my experiences. I felt so cared for and safe there. Welcoming, comforting, trustworthy—the combination of the homey feel I wanted with professional, experienced midwives and nurses let me relax, knowing I was in good hands. The midwives, always there when we needed them, also seemed to know just when to give us space. When pushing became difficult during my second birth, the midwife quickly assessed the situation and helped me get things back on track. I can’t imagine birthing anywhere else.”

Jenna Brown (they/them) of Love Over Fear Wellness and Birth is a Bryn Mawr native and a Philly area birth, postpartum, and full-spectrum doula, who has been teaching yoga since 2014. Their extensive prenatal and postpartum yoga training under Lara Kohn Thompson and Beth Donnelly Caban at Integral Yoga Institute in NYC has deeply influenced the entirety of their work. Jenna believes that people who are in the midst of life transitions are especially receptive to self-awareness practices – such as yoga – and has seen firsthand many times the positive impacts of breath awareness and mindful movement on their doula clients
