Preparation for Childbirth Class
This four-week course, required for first-time parents planning to give birth at The Birth Center, covers the anatomy and physiology of labor and birth, natural pain coping strategies, unexpected outcomes, and birth technology. Immediate postpartum issues and newborn care will also be briefly discussed.
Classes incorporate mindfulness exercises, focused breathing, relaxation techniques, movement for labor, and partner support skills. The format combines lecture, discussion, hands-on demonstration, and student participation. Birth videos will be shown.
$240 per couple
Note: If you wish to take childbirth classes elsewhere, please contact our Director of Programs and Community Engagement, Nikki Graham (ngraham@lifecyclewomancare.org) so she can review the content of your alternative. You will then be required to take the Childbirth Preparation Supplemental class (listed below) in lieu of the series.
At this time, our Preparation for Childbirth class series is only offered to LWC clients.
