Lactation Consultant

Cara Puff, IBCLC

Cara has been a part of the Lifecycle team since 2019. She began her career in women’s health as an adolescent family planning counselor. This early work inspired her to obtain a degree in Health Education and a master’s degree in Urban Education. She went on to teach Biology and Health Education in the Philadelphia School District for 11 years.

Driven by a desire to return to helping families, Cara completed Drexel University’s Human Lactation Consultation Program. As part of her training to become an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Cara gained clinical experience at WIC, Hahnemann University Hospital, Pennsylvania Hospital, Temple University Hospital, and the pediatric clinic at St. Christopher’s Hospital.

Cara believes that while body feeding is a natural process, it often requires both patience and practice.

“As a lactation consultant, I hope to guide and support clients, their infants, and their families through this natural – but demanding and sometimes difficult – process. Through this support, I hope clients can continue their body feeding journey feeling confident and empowered.”

Cara believes that as a whole, Lifecycle provides excellent comprehensive and individualized care in an amazingly intimate setting. She loves the relationships that she gets to build with clients as a provider. She likes that she is given the time and freedom to get to know her clients and understand the issues they are experiencing so that she can assist them in the most effective ways possible.

Outside of work, Cara loves reading mystery novels, cooking (and eating!), and she LOVES laughing.
