Midwife

Sarah Appleby-Wineberg, CNM

Sarah has been with Lifecycle since 2015. She holds a BA in Exercise Science from Oberlin College, a BSN in Nursing from Evansville University, and an MSN in Nursing and Midwifery from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining our team, Sarah spent 9 years in a hospital-based midwifery practice.

Her midwifery journey began in the 90s. According to Sarah:

“I worked as an exercise physiologist in NIH funded research on the topic of Exercise in Pregnancy. As part of the data collection, I attended lots of births as a researcher, and was immediately drawn to the power of women and the beauty of birth. Midwifery appealed to my love of science, the mystery of the human body, and the spirituality in all people. I was hooked!”

Sarah says that she is constantly impressed by the “devotion, kindness, and smarts” of her “work family”. She believes that Lifecycle’s model of care is rare and special and she is proud to be part of not-for-profit healthcare.

Outside of work, Sarah’s passions are her family, exercise, and animals:

“I have an amazing musician/professor husband, two adult daughters, one married and in Library Science school, and one studying biology as an undergraduate. I am currently training for a triathlon, and enjoy caring for our backyard chickens and indoor cats.”

She is also involved in programs for the impoverished and homeless in her local community of South Jersey and serves as a coordinator with Interfaith Hospitality Network.
