The Birth Center at LWC was incorporated in 1978. Our first baby was born in 1980. We were the first licensed birth center in Pennsylvania and are one of the oldest, continually operating birth centers in the United States.
Our goal from day one has been to provide a comfortable, homelike, and safe space for our clients to labor and give birth.
On our first floor, we have three birth suites, each with a large jacuzzi tub, a living room where family and support persons can relax, a dining room, and a full kitchen. The living room can also be converted into a fourth birth suite if needed.
The spacious garden, located behind our building, offers a quiet, secluded, outdoor space for our clients to utilize during labor.
Our facility is conveniently located on County Line Road in Bryn Mawr, PA. We are easily accessible from the Main Line and Philadelphia and also draw clients from New Jersey and Delaware.
Bryn Mawr Hospital is located directly across the street. If a transfer is needed, our midwives accompany our clients to the hospital where they have full privileges to ensure a continuum of care.
