Midwife

Francesca Kotey, CNM

Francesca joined Lifecycle WomanCare as a Staff Midwife in 2017. She earned her undergraduate degree from Smith College and her BSN and MSN from the University of Pennsylvania. Before coming to Lifecycle, she practiced midwifery at Valley Birthplace and Birth Center.

Francesca has known for a long time that she wanted to pursue a career in maternal health. As she says, “I have wanted to catch babies since I learned how they came out.” Initially, her lifelong dream was to become an OB/GYN.

She attended an all women’s college where she learned more about women’s, racial, and LGBTQ health issues, along with medical anthropology, medical sociology, and and racial justice. This knowledge led her pursue midwifery because she felt it better matched her understanding of health and birth, and she says “I have not looked back since.” At Lifecycle, she loves the people and supportive environment.

Outside of work, Francesca loves spending time outdoors, especially near water. She often jokes with her friends that one of her greatest joys in life wearing a cute dress on a warm day (the brighter the color, the better!). She also has a twin brother whose name also starts with the letter “F”.
